Which sound system do I need for 50, 100, 300, 500, or 1,000 guests?

Rule of thumb: up to ~50 guests, an active compact system is sufficient; up to ~100, an active PA pair on stands; from ~300–500, a compact line array solution with subwoofers; from ~1,000, a scaled line array. photon dimensions the PA (including TW AUDiO) based on room acoustics, area, and number of guests – not just wattage.

How much does it cost to rent sound equipment?

The price is project-specific – depending on system size, microphones/wireless systems, monitoring, and support. Rental follows a tiered structure: the longer the rental period, the more attractive the daily rate. You can book equipment only directly via photon.rentals; full-service solutions with support are available upon request.

Do I need my own sound engineer?

For speeches and simple playback, a pre-configured system is often sufficient; for bands or demanding programs, a sound engineer at FOH is recommended. photon provides experienced operators upon request – or you can rent the equipment for self-operation via photon.rentals.

What should be considered for open-air sound reinforcement?

Without reflective walls, more power is needed, often delay speakers for rear areas, protection against wind/weather, and adherence to noise protection regulations. photon plans outdoor sound reinforcement, including level and dispersion concepts.

Do you offer interpreter and language transmission technology?

Yes. For conferences and congresses, photon provides interpreter systems, receivers, and the appropriate sound reinforcement – all from a single source, along with the rest of the conference technology.

Line array or point source sound system – what's the difference?

A line array distributes sound evenly over long distances – ideal for concerts and large halls. Point source/compact sound systems suffice for small to medium-sized rooms. photon selects the system based on acoustics, audience depth, and required sound pressure level.

How many wireless microphones can I use simultaneously?

Technically, many channels are possible – what's crucial is clean, compliant frequency planning. photon plans wireless systems with secure frequencies using professional Shure systems (including Axient) – from individual presenter microphones to multi-channel stage and conference setups.

Do you offer in-ear monitoring for bands?

Yes. photon provides digital Yamaha mixing consoles, in-ear systems (including Shure PSM), and stage monitors for live acts and touring – including a separate monitor mix.

Which setup is suitable for a conference or presentation?

For speech, intelligibility is key: even distribution, wireless/headset microphones, and, if necessary, interpreter and streaming connectivity. photon optimizes conference audio for clear speech intelligibility.

Can I rent sound equipment in Cologne and the surrounding area with delivery?

Yes. photon delivers, sets up, and provides support in Cologne, Bonn, and throughout NRW; self-pickup at our warehouse in Wesseling is also possible. Nationwide productions available upon request.
