At photon you hire professional lighting equipment from a continuously maintained rental stock: moving lights from Robe, Martin and GLP, battery-powered LED systems from Astera, classic ARRI Fresnels and lighting consoles from the grandMA3 series – in other words, the very same equipment used on professional touring productions.

You can hire single fixtures from us just as easily as complete lighting rigs including truss, dimming, cabling and control. On request we take care of planning, setup and operation – our lighting operators have been working on tours and festivals for years. Since 1995 we have been equipping events all over Germany from Wesseling near Cologne: we deliver to Cologne, Bonn, Düsseldorf and the Rhineland every day, and nationwide delivery is always possible.

How easy it is to hire lighting equipment from photon

2. Receive your quote: We check availability, factor in accessories and cabling, and send you a concrete quote within a few hours on working days.
3. Collect or have it delivered: Self-collection in Wesseling near Cologne or delivery right to the venue – with setup and briefing on request.
4. Run your show & return: You get checked, neatly packed equipment. After the event, simply bring the equipment back – or we collect it.

How much does it cost to hire lighting equipment?

LED pinspots such as the Cameo Q Spot 40 RGBW are available from €8 per hire day, moving lights such as the GLP impression X4 Bar 20 from €55 and lighting consoles such as the ChamSys MagicQ Compact Connect from €65. You will find all daily rates listed transparently in our rental shop – tiered terms apply for weekends and longer periods. All prices are plus VAT; self-collectors (dry hire) receive attractive discounts.

Can I also hire lighting equipment with a technician?

Yes. On request, we plan your lighting design, set everything up and provide a lighting operator for the show. We particularly recommend this for moving lights and grandMA3 control if you have no experience with these systems yourself.

Does photon also deliver the lighting equipment?

Yes – in the Cologne/Bonn/Düsseldorf area we deliver every day with our own vehicles, nationwide by arrangement. Self-collection in Wesseling near Cologne is of course also possible and saves costs – find out more on our dry hire page.

How quickly can I hire equipment?

If the equipment is available, it can even be arranged at a day's notice. Just give us a call – we will check availability straight away and send you a quote.

Is the rental equipment insured?

Our equipment is tested and maintained. You are liable for the equipment for the duration of the hire; many customers cover this with event or equipment insurance – we are happy to advise you on this.

Can I also get complete lighting rigs for stages?

Yes, that is our core business: complete lighting rigs including truss, rigging, dimming, signal distribution and control – planned by master craftsmen in event technology, with setup and operation on request.

How long is my quote valid?

Our quotes are non-binding and prices are calculated daily. You have 10 days to confirm the quote informally – a short e-mail is enough. The booking becomes binding with our order confirmation. If availability has changed in the meantime, we adjust the quote first – so you never confirm blindly.

What does event lighting include, and what does it cost?

At photon, event lighting combines ambient lighting, moving lights for effects and a lighting console for control, with lighting design and a lighting operator on request. For galas, dinners and venues without rigging points, wireless battery LEDs such as the Astera FP1 Titan Tubes are ideal – available as a set from €23.50 per day; LED pinspots such as the Cameo Q Spot 40 RGBW cost from €8 per day, each plus VAT. photon quotes complete lighting rigs with console, rigging and operator on a per-project basis.

What lighting equipment do I need for a stage with an audience of 200?

As a guideline for around 200 guests, photon recommends 4–6 LED washes for colour and area coverage, 2–4 moving lights (moving heads) for dynamics, front light for the stage and speakers, and a hazer to make the beams visible. Moving lights such as the Martin MAC Aura PXL can be hired from €75 per day and a hazer such as the Hazebase Base*Hazer*Pro from €35 per day, each plus VAT. photon designs the setup based on room height, stage dimensions and programme – with a lighting operator on request.
