The future of event technology

Hybrid formats, LED not halogen, 3D audio, AI in show control: which event technology trends photon really sees – and which remain trade-fair talk for now.

Event technology trends of tomorrow by photon

Events have long since ceased to consist only of a stage, loudspeakers and a few spotlights. Digitalisation, interactive technologies and sustainable event solutions are noticeably changing the industry – some things faster than the price lists can keep up. We experience this every week in the warehouse and on site. Time for an honest look at what is really catching on in event technology.

Hybrid events and livestreaming have arrived

What was a stopgap in 2020 is now an integral part of many concepts. Streaming technology, interactive participant tools and digital platforms are now as much a matter of course at congresses and corporate events as the lectern. The difference from before: expectations of picture and sound quality have risen massively. A shaky webcam is no longer good enough for anyone. We’ve summarised what is standard in livestreaming and hybrid technology today in a separate article.

LED has won – and that’s a good thing

Energy-efficient LED fixtures, dynamic lighting systems and intelligent lighting control have almost completely displaced the old halogen lamps. Lower power consumption, less waste heat, more creative possibilities. For venues with a limited power supply, this is often the difference between “works” and “doesn’t work”. Sustainability and performance are not mutually exclusive here – quite the opposite.

Sound becomes spatial, images become immersive

With spatial audio, binaural sound systems and directional loudspeakers, sound becomes an element you can shape – exciting for concerts, brand experiences and interactive shows. Augmented and virtual reality are also turning up more and more often in event concepts, from hologram presentations to virtual product worlds. We examine whether augmented reality and holograms are already a reality at events in a separate article. To be honest: not every event needs this. But when it fits, it sticks in the memory.

AI, smart stages and the human factor

Automated lighting and sound control, AI-assisted show control software and smart stage concepts take routine work off our hands and increase safety. What they don’t replace: the technician who hears that something isn’t right in the hall before a measuring device shows it. Experience remains the most important tool – the technology is just getting better at supporting it.

Green events: from trend to requirement

More and more tenders ask for a CO2 footprint and a sustainability concept. Battery-powered sound systems, recyclable stage materials and climate-friendly technical solutions are no longer a niche but are becoming the standard. We are investing accordingly – not for the sake of our image, but because it makes sense both technically and economically.

At photon, we rely on modern, sustainable event technology, hybrid concepts and sound and stage technology that makes productions possible instead of limiting them. If you want to know which of these developments makes sense for your next event: talk to us – we’ll be happy to give you honest advice. We look in more depth at how events really become greener in Sustainable events.
