Lighting technology for Querbeat in the Lanxess Arena 11/2021

With the LANXESS Arena in Cologne, the December tour stop of the Randale & Hurra Tour 2021 was one of the most demanding productions of the year. The sheer size of the hall placed high demands on planning, logistics and technical implementation — while at the same time being extremely tight: Assembly and dismantling had to be carried out entirely on the day of the event. Particular attention was required to integrate hanging ladders on the opposite side of the stage as an alley lighting system and the technically precise projector projection onto the large-format drop curtain. To make matters worse, production took place in the midst of the corona pandemic — consistent compliance with the applicable infection protection measures was mandatory for the entire team throughout the production day and had to be considered and implemented in parallel with the already tight schedule.
We took over the entire lighting technology trade, including rigging, on behalf of Lauten Netten Leute GmbH. In order to be able to safely meet the tight schedule, the entire setup was pre-assembled in MLT trusses — this saved significant time when setting up in the hall. The lighting setup consisted exclusively of fixtures from Robe Lighting, supplemented by the Robe Follow Spot system. SGM P10 RGBW floodlights were used as public blinders. We projected onto the drop curtain with a 40,000 ANSI lumen projector — powerful enough to convincingly display the desired laser effects in the arena and to implement the visual concept of the show cost-effectively.
The tour stop in the LANXESS Arena was technically clean — punctual, stable, without failures. The pre-assembled setup has proven itself in practice and has shown that good preparation makes the difference even under time pressure. The projector solution fulfilled its purpose across the board and became an integral part of the show image.
