Permanent Stage Installation – Waabss Campsite

01. The Challenge

At the entrance of a campsite in Waabs on the Baltic Sea we implemented a permanent stage installation – not a temporary setup for a single event, but a permanently installed stage for the recurring live program of the season.

At its core was a 7 × 5 × 5 m stage structure with a 40 cm high stage floor beneath it, an attached LED wall, a permanently installed sound system, as well as lighting equipment consisting of Chauvet Moving Lights and ROXX Icon Stufenlinsen.

The real challenge was the timeframe: From initial planning to final implementation, there were only one and a half months – because the stage had to be ready in time for the start of the summer season. As an outdoor installation directly on the coast, additional requirements for structural stability and weather resistance were also a factor.

02. Our Solution

The process began with the Footprint: We planned and prepared it with concrete foundations to permanently and securely anchor the structure and avoid using water tanks for ballast. For a fixed installation, this is the more space-efficient, cleaner, and long-term robust solution.

For signal management, we laid cable ducts between the control room and the stage, enabling lighting, sound, and video equipment to be controlled permanently and cleanly – without temporary cables running across the site.

On the prepared foundation, we erected the 7 × 5 × 5 m stage with a 40 cm high stage deck and installed the LED wall . For lighting, we used Chauvet Moving Lights – four Rogue Outcast 3 Spot for focused effects and four Rogue Outcast 2X Wash for wash lighting – supplemented by ROXX Icon Fresnel Lenses for soft stage lighting. The lighting is controlled via a ChamSys QuickQ 20. The permanently installed sound system is mixed via a Yamaha DM3 mixed. Planning, foundation preparation, stage construction, rigging, and lighting, sound, and video technology were all provided by a single source.

03. The Result

Despite the tight timeframe of only one and a half months, the stage was ready on time for the start of the summer season – fully planned, founded, built, and technically equipped.

The result is a permanent, weather-resistant stage installation that requires no temporary ballasting and is reliably controlled from the control room via permanently laid signal paths – ready for live performances right at the entrance of the campsite.
