A stage for art: stage and lighting technology by photon

An event without a stage is like a concert without music – it lacks the centrepiece that focuses everyone’s attention. Whether it’s a gala, a company party, a carnival session or a festival: the stage is the centre of the action and should not be left to chance. Good stage technology is simply more than a platform and a bit of light.

Not all stages are the same

Every event is different – and so is every stage. Some need height, others width, some a complete truss structure with an elaborate lighting design, still others a mobile stage outdoors. They all have only one thing in common: they have to be safe, functional and look good. In that order, to be honest – because, on principle, structural stability is not up for discussion with us.

How we plan and build stages

Listening and understanding

It all starts with your event. What is supposed to happen, who will be on stage, how big is the venue? We ask the right questions and plan the stage that fits – whether square, rectangular or round.

Technical concept

Based on your requirements, a well-thought-out stage concept takes shape: from the substructure and the stage flooring to the integration of lighting, sound and video technology. Our stage technicians work closely with the other trades so that, in the end, everything adds up to one overall picture.

Setting up with precision

This is where experience shows. Within a few hours, cases, trusses and stage decks are turned into a stage structure that complies with all safety regulations – including tidy cable runs and proper bolting in places nobody will see afterwards.

The stage in action

When the first spotlights come on and the soundcheck is under way, every minute counts. Thanks to good planning, this part is usually uneventful – and you can concentrate on what really matters: your audience.

What sets our stages apart

Our systems are modular and flexible – from a 2 × 2 m platform for a panel discussion to a 10 × 10 m show stage. They meet all current standards and are sturdy and weatherproof. And because lighting, sound, video and stage all come from a single source with us, there’s no patchwork of three trades getting in each other’s way. The experience from hundreds of events – from carnival stages to corporate events – makes a noticeable difference here.

A few moments that stuck with us

At one open-air stage, we once had to open up the entire back at short notice because a thunderstorm with gale-force winds was moving in – typical North Rhine-Westphalia weather. After the storm and an evacuation of the site, all the acts were still able to play. For a carnival session, we built a complete stage including truss construction, lighting, sound and decoration in just four hours – the Council of Eleven was delighted. And our favourite compliment remains: “The stage was so good, I felt like I was on tour!”

Your event. Your stage. Our job.

A stage is the place where emotions are born – the moment the lights come on and the mic goes live. That is exactly why it pays to invest in good stage planning and professional event technology. If you’re planning an event and need a stage that makes an impression, you’ve come to the right place at photon: we don’t just deliver the platform, but the whole package. Get in touch and bring your event to the stage.

How technology becomes the storyteller here is something we explore in more depth in The role of technology in emotional storytelling at events. You can read about the role the right lighting plays in the overall impact in Lighting technology and event lighting: the practical guide to good stage pictures. And our master craftsman explains step by step how a safe event stage is built from a technical point of view in Stage construction and rigging.
